*‘God Friended Me’ was renewed for a second season and EURweb caught up with its cast members on the Red Carpet as they celebrated a glorious run.

The CBS well-scripted, extraordinary show that airs Sunday nights is a show that the whole family can watch and enjoy.

It has Miles (Brandon Michael Hall) trying to find out who is behind the God Facebook account that friends him. To add to the intrigue, Miles is an atheist and that does not sit well with his father Reverend Arthur Finer (Joe Morton), preacher at Harlem‘s Trinity Church for 25 years.

Cast members Hall, Morton, Violette Beane (Cara), and, Rakesh (Suraj Sharma) were quite revealing when EUR asked about their roles on the carpet at The Paley Center for Media in New York.

EUR: Brandon, did you have any trepidation taking on this character?

I did. Having grown up in the church, it was the hardest thing to say, ‘I don’t believe.’ But I was constantly reminded that there are people out there who need this story to be told. Most atheists don’t actually want to talk about their beliefs. Religion is a personal thing. And that’s what I’ve learned, to accept that I don’t have to dictate to anyone.   What is for me is for me. So that was a hard thing to try to check into. But now, I feel like I kind of got it.

Joe, did you know you would land another successful show?

You know, you never know. Obviously. I mean, I think when ‘Scandal’ started the first season they did kind of o`k. And it wasn’t until the second season when they started tweeting live, that the show took off. We felt good because CBS put us in a great spot, right behind ’60 Minutes’ on a Sunday. I guess our biggest fear was what would football do to us, and we seem to have overcome that one. So, I think we’re all very happy.

Violett, what’s your role as a journalist in this mystery?

As a journalist, Cara’s job is to kind of get to the bottom of things, and I think that definitely plays into the story. It kind of enables the audience to question in a factual way. But Cara is definitely more of a believer than I am, and so I think that’s sort of an interesting difference for me. She says everything isn’t just a coincidence. But in my own personal experience, I often fall back on this idea that things don’t really happen for a reason. They just happen.

Suraj, what has been the biggest challenge for you being a part of the God Squad?

Whoa! [he jumps back as if blown away, then comes back to me]. That is tough~~That is tough. Honestly. . Honestly, Sometimes it’s to keep up and to do as well as they are doing ’cause the whole team, and you’re met them now, they’re obviously fantastic actors, great storytellers, and understand everything. But we’re also super, super close. So I want to do the show and them justice, by trying to keep up, do as well as they can, understand what they wanna do, and help them whenever I can. And that is the biggest challenge, to improve each other, and make ourselves better.
