Cardi B Makes Grammy History with Best Rap Album Win + Full List of Winners

Cardi B-grammys

*Cardi B made history at the 61st Grammy Awards when she became the first female solo rap artist to bag the Best Rap Album award for her 2018 debut “Invasion of Privacy.” Many hip-hop enthusiast find it laughable that she beat Mac Miller (Swimming), Nipsey Hussle (Victory Lap), Pusha-T (DAYTONA), and Travis Scott (ASTROWORLD).

One Twitter user even noted: “I‘m not saying anything but all I’m saying is that nicki minaj has been rapping since 2007 and she still hasn’t won that award.. cardi b started in 2017.  I’m still not saying anything.”

Another user took a jab at Nicki, writing: “All the rap girls have a Grammy except for the girl that calls herself the queen of rap.”

On stage, Cardi delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech with her husband Offset at her side. She also gave a special shoutout to her daughter, Kulture, who was born last July.

“When I found out, my album was not complete … we have to get this album done so I could shoot these videos while I’m still not showing,” she said. “It was very long nights.”

In total, Cardi B received five nominations, including Album of the year, Song of the Year (“I Like It”), Best Rap Performance (“Be Careful”), and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the Maroon 5 collab “Girls Like You.”
