the real crew (01-10-19)

*On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the ladies of The Real discuss whether twerking is controversial or empowering during the age of #MeToo. Co-host Loni Love wants people to know that she had joy in her life even before she was dating someone, and co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley confesses to a secret crush on Drake!

The hosts also reach out to a TSA employee in Riverdale, GA who has been affected by the shutdown, and lend her a helping hand. The show will be reaching out to people in similar situations during the rest of the week.

Then Jonjelyn and Timothy Savage, who allege their daughter is being held against their will by R&B singer R. Kelly, and their attorney, Gerald Griggs, talk to the hosts about their experience and their claims they were threatened by R. Kelly’s manager. Jonjelyn and Timothy recall the last time they spoke with daughter Joycelyn, and Griggs explains the evidence and next steps in their case.

Joycelyn Savage’s Parents, Who Claim She Is Being Held Against Her Will By R. Kelly, Talk About The Last Time They Heard From Her

Loni Love: The last phone call you got from her – what did she say, how did she sound? The last phone call.

Timothy Savage: Well, my wife – it was in December 2017 – we was sitting by the Christmas tree, my wife was sitting down, and it was like a 30 second call. And she was demanding that my wife say certain things, but when I walked into the room, the phone hung up – it was like a prison call.

Adrienne Houghton: Wow. I’m sure a lot of people are wondering that if you got to actually speak to her, and she said, “Mom, Dad, I’m happy, I’m good, there’s nothing wrong with me,” then what would you do? What happens from there?

Timothy: Well, like I said, if Joycelyn is physically, mentally all well, we have no problem with what she chooses to do with her life. The problem is that she’s being mentally and physically abused. In a certain situation we need to make sure as parents to make sure that she is ok and that’s our most important thing here.
