*Jill Scott’s estranged husband has filed papers seeking to throw out their prenuptial agreement and demand half of their marital assets, according to reports.
Mike Dobson is alleging that the singer and her lawyer pressured him to sign a prenup they drafted three weeks before the wedding, reports Bossip. He said he didn’t have a lawyer and felt coerced, but signed the documents out of love for Scott. The R&B star filed for divorce 15 months later.
Dobson’s team says the prenup isn’t legal on two grounds: he signed it under duress and without a lawyer, and Scott violated the agreement’s confidentiality clause by speaking publicly about the divorce.
“To (Scott), marriage is a matter of trivial convenience at best and a dispensable annoyance at worst, evidenced by the lightness, dismissiveness, and dehumanization,” Dobson’s countersuit reads. “(Scott) never attempted to salvage the marriage, which she strenuously endeavored to destroy.”
Dobson said he wants $500,000, half of their assets, Scott to pay his lawyer’s fees, the prenup tossed and for Scott to stop speaking about him in the press.
