*”The Force” was on full display this past Thursday night in Hollywood along with the Millennium Falcon for the world premiere of “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”
Hollywood and Highland was the location for the premiere screening of the latest prequel in the Star Wars franchise. “Solo” tells the story of how space bad boy Han Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich) and his fuzzy sidekick Chewbacca became co-pilots on the signature spacecraft.
The film also stars Thandie Newton and Donald Glover who plays a young Lando Calrissian. The original role made famous by Billy Dee Williams in the 1980 release, “The Empire Strikes Back.” The elder Lando attended the premiere and shared what it was like meeting Glover and what advice he gave him on the role.
“We sat down and I had a bunch of ideas of what it was going to be, and he threw it all out the window. He was just kind of like, ‘I don’t know. Be charming.’ That was sage advice. He was like, ‘Keep it simple, stupid.'”

Glover’s role was special to him because as a kid, the Lando action figure was the first toy he received as a kid from his dad.
“He really changed my life, because ‘Star Wars’ was like the first story I ever knew. We had it on like VHS like ripped from a laser disc. I just wanted to be that guy.”
Director Ron Howard gave great perspective on Glover, “Donald is so inventive, but he’s also an intellectual,” he said. “He thinks like a writer and then he happens to also be a great performer. And tremendous work ethic.”
Also spotted on the red carpet, singer Christina Milian, “Grownish” star Trevor Jackson, Ballers’ Omar Benson and actress Yvette Nicole Brown.
Solo: A Star Wars Story opens May 25.
