“Sybrina is a model of grace and strength, ” said Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, President and CEO of Benedict College, ‘we are all Trayvon’ and demand social justice for our sons.”

On the night of February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida, George Zimmerman fatally shot Trayvon Martin, who was unarmed, during an alleged physical altercation between the two. Zimmerman claimed self-defense but was later charged with murder. He was ultimately acquitted at trial on self-defense grounds.

After the death of her son in 2012, Sybrina started the Trayvon Martin Foundation, “a non profit organization whose main purpose is to provide both emotional and financial support to families who have loss a child to gun violence,” according to the website.

Last year, Fulton and Trayvon’s father, Tracy Martin, co-authored a book that Jay-Z produced as a six-part series titled “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.”

Zimmerman allegedly made threats aimed at both Beyoncé and Jay-Z during the filming of the doc, The Blast reported. In a series of text messages obtained by the site, he called Beyoncé a “broke whore” and promised she and Jay would “find themselves inside a 13 foot gator.”
