*Oprah Winfrey‘s OWN network has been dropped from a lawsuit filed by Amber Dixon Brenner, the alleged mistress of producer Salim Akil — but she’s still moving forward with her claims against him.

As we previously reported, Brenner filed a complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court on November 20, accusing the married showrunner of repeated “non-consensual assault and battery” and claims they had a “physically and sexually abusive relationship” for over a decade up until 2017.

Brenner also says she pitched a screenplay called “Luv & Perversity in the East Village” (LPEV) to Akil in 2016 that was based on their relationship and described as being “about loving a person who is detrimental to her own life and takes the readers on a journey that explores love in the context of such an abusive relationship.”

According to the lawsuit, “LPEV’s” female protagonist is a young, attractive, black entertainment professional who falls in love with a dominant and aggressive male who turns her life upside down.

Brenner claims that when Salim and his wife and producing partner Mara Brock Akil pitched the project to the OWN network, they presented it as being based on their own real-life relationship. The network loved the concept and turned it into a show called “Love Is” back in June, created and produced by Mara and Salim.

Brenner says the series is a rip-off of her work so she sued OWN, Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, demanding an injunction against them from continuing to profit off her work. She filed a separate lawsuit against Akil, accusing him of domestic violence and breach of contract.

Akil’s lawyer released a statement, saying his client denies all allegations: “We will defend Salim to the fullest against the false and offensive claims that a woman with whom he had a past relationship has included in multiple unsubstantiated lawsuits. Salim looks forward to clearing his name and to being able to focus on his work and his family.”

Brenner has dismissed her lawsuit against the network but her case against Akil is moving forward, The Blast reports.
