THE REAL: Amara La Negra Performs and Discusses the Migrant Caravan! – WATCH

the real - the real crew (12-20-18)

*On Thursday, December 20, the ladies of The Real discuss how they prefer to ring in the New Year and if mothers are expected to dress up to drop their children off at school.  Then co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley channels the voice of God when the ladies reveal who they would like to listen to while being lulled to sleep. Later, co-host Loni Love describes her ideal channel if she was to ever become a YouTube star.

Love & Hip-Hop: Miami’s, Amara La Negra, stops by to talk about writing the children’s book Amarita’s Way, which celebrity she is crushing on and her impassioned opinion about the migrant caravan.  She then performs her single, “Understanding”.

Adrienne Houghton: You’ve been very open about your mom actually immigrating to this country through the Mexican border.

Amara La Negra: Right.

Adrienne: So, I’m curious as to what are your thoughts on the migrant caravan?

Amara: You know, um, I understand both parties and how people can feel a certain type of way. But, from my mother’s experience, I think that people can be so judgmental here. And it’s so easy to point fingers, but… when you’re in your country and you don’t have food to feed your family or even to eat when you don’t have a job, you know, you get desperate. You don’t know what to do.  And desperate moments call for desperate measures. And sometimes, you know, they want to just cross the border ‘cause they feel that this is, uh, that’s the dream!  They’ll be okay, you know.  Sometimes they run away because there’s violence in their community.  So, I just think that people can be so judgmental… ‘why are you doing this?’ and ‘why are you doing that?’ But, if you’ve never been in that situation where you’ve really been hungry and you don’t have food to feed your children, there’s no jobs… Like, if you haven’t been there, it’s hard for you to start pointing fingers.
