*No matter what age you are, the 90’s were some of the best years especially when it came to music. The 2018 Soul Train Awards reminded us exactly why this past weekend at the Orleans Arena in Vegas.
It was a groove fest with performances by Jon B., Carl Thomas and Bell Biv Devoe just to name few. Let’s not forget some of our favorite musicians hitting the black carpet like Faith Evans, Erykah Badu, SZA, Justine Skye and many more.
The love, peace and soul was being held down by the ladies this year. With BFFs Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold taking over Erykah Badu’s regular spot as host while she was awarded with the Legend Award. A very befitting award for this queen of soul. Faith Evans also geared up to be honored for the night as The Lady Of Soul. Her and hubby Stevie J. smashed the black carpet giving interviews and assuring us there are no babies in the near future.
Even though H.E.R was the big nominee during the night, young soul ladies such as Ari Lennox, Normani and Koryn Hawthorne are definitely ones to be on the look out for.
We can’t forget the black carpet, where they showed up and showed out. Tisha Campbell looked amazing in a velvet, glittered all black jumpsuit that dipped in a low V in the front.
Another in an all black look was Faith Evans. With her platinum blonde do and an all embroider black suit giving chic, classy and edgy.
But the fashion icon award for the night would have had to go to Erykah Badu with her mouth piece, headpiece and an outfit that could only be done by the queen herself. I mean for her to be the last to arrive she definitely was worth the wait.
The 2018 Soul Train Awards returns to BET tonight, Sunday, November 25 at 8pm E/P. Tuning in will cause serious nostalgia, so be prepared!
