Fans Slam Beyoncé for Last-minute Beto O’Rourke Endorsement and His Loss to Ted Cruz

*Many Beyonce fans are outraged about her eleventh-hour endorsement of Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke for the U.S. Senate, just hours before polls closed Tuesday.

Some are even blaming her for the Texas Democrat’s loss to Sen. Ted Cruz.

The Houston-native urged her fans to get out and vote for O’Rourke, posting photos on Instagram of herself rocking a“Beto for Senate” cap.

“We can’t voice our frustrations and complain about what’s wrong without voting and exercising our power to make it right,” she wrote to her 119 million followers. “We need you.”

But many were quick to point out that her effort was too little, too late.

“You have such a huge, influential voice and you wait until Election Day to post this?!” one fan wrote. “Beto needed you sooner. Maybe you could’ve actually made a difference.”

“Lol these posts a week ago could have made the difference in young voters,” someone else noted.

“Why does Beyoncé swoop in at the last minute and endorse the right candidate when it’s too late? (She did it with Hillary and now with Beto.) Speak up when it’s early enough that your voice can do something or sit down. It’s lame,” wrote Twitter user @NotGayleKing

@JessicaAlberg said: “Gotta be honest. Love Bey of course. But WHY was Beyoncé so late in supporting Beto?? 3 hours before closing is def not enough time to make as big an impact as she could have. You’re gonna use you’re game as influcence? All for it! But be smart. Affective. #dissapointedinourqueen”

And user @KimberlyNFoster noted: “For the first time in history a surprise drop from Beyoncé was poorly timed.”

Meanwhile, spencer claus had this to say about the outrage: “95% of black women voted for Beto over Cruz. Now is not the time for white men to be blaming black women for Beto’s loss. Maybe let’s talk about how white men and women voted overWHELMINGly for Cruz? You’ve done awesome work, but this is not the move”

O’Rourke was beaten by Cruz, who reportedly captured 50.9 percent of the vote compared to O’Rourke’s 48.3 percent.
