Towanda Braxton Talks Tonight’s ‘Family Time’ Appearance, ‘BFV’ Therapy, and Why Church Folk Need Sex Toys!

*Season 6 of WETV’s Braxton Family Values has been tumultuous. The tension in the family was so serious that they all attended a therapy session mediated by Iyanla Vanzant. The three-day session resulted in a lot of secrets and hidden feelings being revealed.

Towanda Braxton spoke exclusively with EURweb’s Jill Munroe about that therapy session, her guest starring role on Bounce TV’s “Family Time (airing tonight at 9/8c) and why church people need sex toys.

Towanda – who confessed in the episode that she wasn’t honest with her sisters and sometimes feels judged – said the session caused her to think more about boundaries. Both personally and from her family’s individual perspectives. As family, there are areas and feelings that we have to be aware of and respect them.”

Overall she said she learned a lot from the experience although painful in moments.

The experience wasn’t positive for all of the sisters, though. Tamar called Iyanla “the devil” after taping the episode in a since-deleted tweet. Trina said she deliberately separated herself from the family and made judgements about them.

Traci confessed that she can be selfish at times but that she feels pain and hurt with her family.

Tamar admitted she can be spoiled, obnoxious, unkind and unfair. While Toni dropped the bombshell that there are times that she didn’t like her family.

Despite all that drama, Towanda said she’s not done with reality TV and Braxton Family Values. She believes that being on the show helps others. She shared that friends and strangers alike reach out to her to share how the show helped them in their lives. “I’ve received texts from friends after that episode telling me how they were balling and could relate. I’ve also gotten DMs from fans saying watching our relationship helps them work through their own family dynamics.”

When it comes to acting, Towanda says she’s taking it serious and hopes to do more. She has two movies coming out this year, plus a guest appearance on Family Time that airs tonight, October 29 at 9/8c.

In the episode she plays the wife of “Living Single” veteran star TC Carson. Their characters “The Blacks” own a funeral home and are very over the top.

Towanda will also be featured on a new Bounce TV show titled Last Call that stars Charles Malik Whitfield (EmpireIf Loving You is Wrong) as Darius Knight. Knight is an ex-NFL player who – after discovering his business manager ran off with all his money – opens a comedy club in the backroom of his only remaining investment – a Baltimore bar named Last Call

But Towanda is a business woman as well. With her new project, she wants to help women become sexually in touch with themselves, “especially church people.” She has a line of sex toys coming out.

“Women need to know what they like when it comes to pleasuring themselves. Being able to tell someone what you like is important. Church people have sex, the pastors have sex”

Towanda’s episode on Family Time will air on Bounce TV, tonight, October 29 at 9/8c. Bounce TV is the nation’s fastest-growing television network designed for African-American audiences including Brown Sugar, Bounce’s popular subscription video on demand service.
