*(Via WLWT) – Federal and local investigators are investigating after the Secret Service intercepted a suspicious package addressed to Barack and Michelle Obama shortly after a bomb was discovered near the New York home of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
The Secret Service says its personnel interpreted the packaged addressed to the Obamas early Wednesday morning.
“The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” officials told CNN.
WPIX reported investigators with the FBI, Secret Service and New Castle police department discovered the package around 1 a.m. Wednesday near the Clintons’ Chappaqua, New York, home. The Clintons have lived in Chappaqua, about 30 miles north of New York City, since former President Clinton left office in 2001.
At this point it is unclear if the Clintons were home at the time the device was discovered.
