Maryland Officer Arrested, Facing Five Charges After Raping Woman During Traffic Stop

*A Prince George’s County police officer in Maryland has been suspended without pay after allegedly raping a woman during a traffic stop.

Six-year veteran officer Ryan Macklin was arrested Monday following the alleged Thursday morning incident after a woman living in the United States illegally told police he pulled her over and attacked her.

“The charges against this officer are highly troubling,” Chief Hank Stawinski said in a statement. “Officers take an oath to protect others, not to abuse their authority in order to victimize someone. Those who live and work in Prince George’s County deserve the very best from the men and women of this department.”

Macklin faces five chargesfirst and second-degree rape, second-degree assault, fourth-degree sex offense and perverted practice.

A preliminary investigation revealed Macklin pulled over a female driver and then forced her to give him oral sex while they were both seated in her car in a nearby parking lot.

“Macklin was on-duty, in uniform, and driving a marked police cruiser at the time,” a police statement said. “At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence as to why he targeted this victim.”

Police do not believe Macklin targeted the woman because of her immigration status.

Authorities have released a video showing him activating his cruiser’s lights to pull over the alleged victim.

In an interview with FOX5DC, Stawinski said Macklin may have victimized other women.

Many are noting across social media that because he’s Black, Macklin’s been suspended with pay. Meanwhile, White cops can kill without impunity and are suspended WITH PAY while their own department investigates.
