Nelly: Sexual Assault Lawsuit Settled and Dismissed

*Nelly has mutually settled with the woman who claimed he raped her on a tour bus, The Blast reports.

The rapper’s lawyer confirmed Thursday that “Both parties agreed to drop the lawsuit. No settlement or money changed hands,” said attorney Scott Rosenblum in a statement to Variety.

However, accuser Monique Greene’s attorney, Karen Koehler, is refuting the statement and says information about no money changing hands is “false.”

News about a settlement comes nine months after Washington State prosecutors declined to file charges in the second-degree rape case against Nelly because Greene refused to testify in court or help the investigation. This means she will not be able to re-file the case in the future.

Greene’s attorney said her client did not testify because she “cannot handle” the “horrible” public scrutiny she faced by accusing a celebrity.

Greene was 21 at the time she claimed Nelly raped her on his tour bus outside Seattle on October 7, 2017. He was booked on suspicion of second-degree rape and released, the report states.

After prosecutors dropped the case, Greene filed a lawsuit against Nelly for sexual assault and defamation. Nelly then counter-sued for defamation.

A source close to Greene tells The Blast that she “just wanted this to be done with.” the ordeal and “wants to get on with her life.”
