Cosby Will be in Prison’s General Population – Roland Martin/Celebs Weigh

*If you’re wondering whether Bill Cosby will be accorded celebrity status in prison with his own private accommodations, you need to know thatwon’t be happening, according to corrections officials. He’ll find himself in general population with all the other criminals and miscreants.

Sorry, there’s no other way to say it. Cosby’s official inmate number is NN7687.

Officials at the Pennsylvania DOC, according to The Blast, transferred Cosby Tuesday night to SCI Phoenix, where he is currently being processed. That means he have meetings with staff from medical, psychology and the records departments.

As of now, Cosby is being housed in a single cell near the infirmary, with the opportunity to place phone calls, receive visitors and even exercise a bit. However, officials say the “long term goal” is for Cosby to be “placed in the general population to receive the programming required during his incarceration.”

Yes, precautions are being taken to ensure the his “safety and general welfare in our institution,” the officials claim, but they make it crystal clear he won’t get the star treatment. We’re betting he eventually will get it. If not from officials, but from the other inmates and guards.

Meanwhile, reaction to Cosby’s incarceration to roll in. Here’s what Roland Martin, the award-winning journalist, multimedia producer and host of #ROLANDMARTINUNFILTERED said in statement in response to the news of Bill Cosby’s sentencing for sexual assault:

“The fall from the stratosphere of Bill Cosby is complete. Once one of America’s most beloved and iconic figures will now be seen and remembered in a completely different light as a result of his sexual assault conviction, and now, as he heads to prison. For all of his historic work as a groundbreaking pioneer in Hollywood and commitment to historically Black colleges and the arts, it is still stunning to hear Bill Cosby referred to as a “violent sexual predator.”
