CBS’ New ‘God Friended Me’ Takes Faith-Based TV to a Whole New Level – EUR Exclusive!

God Friended Me stars Brandon Michael Hall as Miles Finer, a black atheist podcaster whose life is forever changed after being “friended” on social media by someone who claims to be God. The show will tackle questions of faith, existence and science as Miles is pulled into seeming random lives around him as God sends him friend referrals. It becomes apparent that his role is to influence everyday miracles and in some cases, change the course of destiny.

This show isn’t like old school shows “Touched by an Angel” or “Highway to Heaven” which featured angels. Instead it’s  firmly grounded on Earth without any supernatural aspects or magic in the story.

Hall (ABC’s “The Mayor”) is a preacher’s kid from South Carolina.  He said taking this role tested his faith. He actually stopped praying for a period of time to understand what it means to be an atheist. Hall watched documentaries and visited several blogs to research the part. Ultimately he said it cleared the path for a deeper conversation with God and to understand his relationship with him on his own terms as an adult.

Hall believes that the show is for everyone and hopes it will restore hope and motivate people to take a step towards each other.
