Meanwhile, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, Anthony David has released a new video to “Lovely Day,” the first official single from his Hello Like Before: The Songs Of Bill Withers.
“Every time I perform “Lovely Day,” it becomes a sing a-long with the audience but I notice people mainly sing the song’s hook. We decided to create a lyric video to highlight the lyrics to this amazing song.”
The popular classic originally was written by Bill Withers and Skip Scarborough in 1977 and released on Withers’ Menagerie album in 1978. The new rendition appears as one of ten Bill Withers songs to be released on Shanachie Entertainment September 21.
“‘Lovely Day’ is a favorite of the songs recorded for Hello Like Before because it’ s that classic feel good song that starts off your day,” says David. “Although it was written over 40 years ago, it’s still makes you feel good every time you hear it.”
“We covered a couple of hits. You know, some of the necessary things for sure on the tribute album but there were so many songs and once I started digging into his catalog, I really just thought, ‘Wow, people should hear this,” the singer shared. “As we saw with Aretha’s passing, you’ve got to give people their flowers while they’re here and pay homage if you get a chance to.”
