*The 19 year-old entertainment conference, “Uplifting Minds II” (ULMII), is looking for artists for the conference’s national talent showcase competition to be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 1 – 4 p. m. at the Celebrity Centre in Hollywood, California (5930 Franklin Avenue, 90028).

The “ULMII” entertainment conference is free and open to the public. It offers an entertainment business panel discussion that opens the conference. Only ten acts will get four minutes to show their talents as a singer, songwriter, dancer or actor for the panel of experts.

There are a few slots available for those that qualify. One winner in each category will be selected and will receive over $15,000 valued in prizes that include studio recording time, music track, legal package and consult, business or public relations strategy, professional photographs and so much more.

Former “ULMII” winners and professional artists will open the talent portion of the event followed by the talent competition for “ULMII Best Artist.” This title means the artists will be promoted all year via the events’ sponsors EURweb.com, ThePulseofEntertainment.com, Praise98FMcom and The MelodyTrice.com Show.

The free “ULMII” entertainment conference was founded by syndicated entertainment columnist/Public Relations-Business Strategist Eunice Moseley, MS, M.B.A. (www.ThePulseofEntertainment.com) in 1999. Moseley wanted to provide artists with the business education needed to survive independently in the entertainment industry and a platform to showcase their talents for industry experts who can help. “ULMII” is 19 years old and is held annually in Baltimore and Los Angeles, previously it was also held in Atlanta and Houston (2001-2004).

Former performers and competition winners of the “ULMII” entertainment conference have benefited by being scouted at the event. Those success stories include Ro Shon Feagan, a winner of the Los Angeles event whose manager said the information the panel gave him helped him take Ro Shon to the next level which was a co-starring role on Disney’s “Shake It Up” and that exposure led to performing on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” A group from Baltimore, The Featherstone Brothers, performed their original song “I Should Be” and was heard by SisQo of the platinum selling group Dru Hill who was there to support group member Jazz who was a panelist, and he used the original song on their 3rd album as “I Should Be (Your Boyfriend).” The song went platinum and according to one of the brother they are still riding the wave of success from that event as songwriters/producers whose credits included Chris Brown. A young lady from New Jersey, Naturi Naighton, performed at the Baltimore event and her manager called to say she was scouted at the event by Broadway. After performing on Broadway, she joined the R&B girl group 3LW and from there landed a starring role on the STARZ series “Power.” Last, but not least, a young singer by the name of Miguel performed at the Los Angeles “ULMII” event and one of the panelist, Jimmy Maynes (Sr. VP of Jive Records), signed him to a recording deal. Today Miguel is a Grammy Award winner.
