*Some of the most loyal customers are threatening to boycott In-N-Out Burger after the chain donated $25,000 to help Republicans win in the upcoming midterm elections.

News of the donation made its way to Twitter feed on Wednesday and shortly after, the hashtag #BoycottInNOut was born.

As noted by NBC Los Angeles, the burger chain, which started in Baldwin Park, California in 1948 by Harry Snyder and Esther Snyder, proudly displays Bible verses on some of its packaging and has contributed to Republican causes in the past.

NPR did a report in 2009 about the discreet citations.

“Each burger wrapper and cup also comes with a Bible citation — thanks to Harry Snyder’s son, Rich Snyder, who is the company’s second president and a born-again Christian.”

According to the Sacramento Bee, In-N-Out donated $30,000 to the GOP in 2017. It has also given the California pro-business PAC, “Californians for Jobs & A Strong Economy,” $80,000 in 2017.

California Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox tweeted: “There’s nothing more Californian than In-N-Out Burger. Great lunch today in #Fresno. If .@GavinNewsom is nervous debating me on CA issues – maybe a friendly Double Double vs Caviar joust?”

“This is the best California publicity Shake Shack could ever ask for,” one Twitter user wrote.

@NersesAposhian tweeted: “Wait… does this mean California liberals (basically most of the state) won’t eat at In-N-Out anymore? Shorter lines?!”

Several users noted that they are “regular customers” but can’t spend money with “a company that supports the current GOP! #BoycottInNOut.”
