*Cardi B has been tapped to open the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, marking her first return to the stage since giving birth to Kulture Kiari Cephus on July 10.

She joins fellow performers Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Logic, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes and this year’s Michael Jackson Vanguard recipient Jennifer Lopez who will take the stage Monday at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

Cardi’s return comes a month after the rapper pulled out of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour to focus on motherhood.

“I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically,” she wrote on Instagram. “I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Boyz II Men, Ciara, Ella Mai, Charlie Wilson and The Green and Common Kings would serve as Mars’ supporting acts in Cardi’s place.

The 2018 MTV VMAs will air Monday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Cardi B and The Carters are tied for the most nominations at 10 each.
