*Following the resurfacing of the rape allegations against Charlamagne Tha God, his future on radio and television went into peril, with many people demanding that he be fired from co-hosting “The Breakfast Club.”
An opportunity with HBO in the form of a show called “The Gray Area” was also placed in jeopardy while the charges were investigated. Many supporters stepped up and defended Charlemagne, including co-host Angela Yee and activist Angela Rye.
Jessica Reid, 32, had a rape kit done 17 years ago, in 2001, when she and Charlamagne allegedly had non-consensual sex. When she had the case reopened, police analyzed the rape kit and attempted to match it with Charlamagne’s profile; they found nothing.

BOSSIP has obtained the official police documents that state Charlamagne voluntarily submitted semen and blood samples to authorities to cooperate in the investigation and after comparison to the alleged victim no DNA evidence was found to link him to the crime. No traces of blood and saliva were found on Reid, so there was “no analysis performed” on either party.
South Carolina Solicitor of the 9th Judicial Circuit, Scarlett A. Wilson, explained in a letter why, despite the alleged victim’s request, with no DNA evidence the state will not be reopening the case against Charlamagne.

Nearly twenty years later, Jessica Reid claims that the prosecutor should’ve pressed her to put Charlamagne Tha God behind bars, rather than cut a plea deal which included only probation and community service. Once the #MeToo allegations took off last year, Reid decided that she should fight for justice.
