The Cast of ‘The Meg’ Talks Underwater Stunts, Funny Lines and Pre-Historic Sharks (EUR Exclusive – Watch!)

*The world’s first ever summer blockbuster, “Jaws,” debuted in June of 1975 and the immediate impact was moviegoers staying out of the water! 43 years later, Warner Bros pictures wants to keep that same energy with the release of their action-thriller, The Meg.

The film stars Jason Statham (“The Transporter,” “Furious 7,” “The Expendables”) as a rescue diver who has been called to save a crew stuck at the bottom of the Pacific ocean in a deep-sea submersible.  The team was attacked by a massive creature that was previously thought to be extinct. Statham’s character Jonas is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer against the wishes of his daughter Suyin, to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon.

Jonas discovers he’s faced this creature before. But this time, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone.

The science fiction action thriller is directed by Jon Turteltaub (“National Treasure”) and features an international cast that includes award-winning Chinese actress Li Bingbing (“Transformers: Age of Extinction,” “Forbidden Kingdom,” “The Message,”) Rainn Wilson (TV’s “The Office,” “Super”), Ruby Rose (“xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” TV’s “Orange is the New Black”), Winston Chao (“Skiptrace,” “Kabali”) and Page Kennedy (TV’s “Rush Hour)

Yours truly, EURweb’s Jill Munroe, sat down with Page, Ruby, Rainn and Li Bingbing to discuss whether they believe a pre-historic shark like “The Meg” could really exist, the film’s elaborate stunts and which character the actors would like to steal a scene from for themselves. Hint, everyone wants to be the in-shape hero, but for different reasons.

The film is based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Steve Alten. “The Meg” hits theatres August 10.
