Italy: Serena Williams’ Hubby Flies Her to Venice Because ‘She Wanted Italian’; Beyonce & Jay-Z Applauded in Capri

*Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, took a spur of the moment flight to Italy on Saturday, all because the tennis star had a craving for Italian food.

“She wanted Italian for dinner, so…” Ohanian, the 35-year-old Reddit co-founder, wrote on Instagram, alongside a photograph of Williams, 36, sipping a glass of wine on a gondola ride.

The couple flooded their social media accounts with pics and video from the impromptu excursion, including an image of Serena walking along an empty street in the ancient city, shared by her husband. “Last night was a blur,” he captioned the shot.

Through the apparent use of a drone camera, Williams filmed her hotel suite, sharing a video of herself lounging in bed. The camera rises and widens the shot, eventually zooming out of the room’s skylight above the bed and above the rooftop to show the picturesque landscape surrounding their hotel.

“Loving family time in beautiful Italy. What an insane room I stayed in. I got to look at stars from my bed at night!! This week has been a dream!” she captioned the clip, tagging L’Albereta hotel in Erbusco.

Ohanian shared one last shot of the city on Sunday, announcing their departure.

“Venezia made a great first impression on the family. We’ll certainly be back. But there’s work to be done…” he captioned the shot.

During their trip, which came less than a week after Williams was defeated by Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the final round at Wimbledon, Serena shared some updates regarding their 10-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia.

“319 days since I gave birth to this amazing baby @OlympiaOhanian I’ve spent 319 of those days with her. I’m so fortunate,” Williams captioned the photo.

The new mom also revealed that her daughter had a little fall — but got right up again with a smile on her face.

“Today I saw Olympia fall… but she got back up. She fell again almost immediately…. and almost immediately she got back up again. She always had a smile on her face,” the 23-time Grand Slam winner wrote alongside an image of her baby girl. “I learned a lot from Olympia today. Thank you my baby love.”

In other news from Italy, Beyonce and Jay-Z received a standing ovation on Monday, and not from any “On the Run II” stop in the country.

According to footage posted by TMZ, diners at Ristorante Aurora on the small Italian island of Capri stood and applauded for the couple as they exited with their staff. Sources told the website the owner of the venue saw them out personally and even managed to get a hug from the rapper.

Bey and Jay wrapped the European leg of their On the Run II Tour in southern France last week and have been taking some vacation time before the North American leg begins tomorrow (July 25) in Cleveland.
