*Actor Niecy Nash joined AM to DM this to dish on getting a Walk of Fame star before Oprah, playing Desna on TNT’s “Claws,” and being an advocate for “anybody who is trying to live their dream.”

Here are some highlights from the convo:

Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame before Oprah:
“I didn’t know Oprah didn’t have a star. But the one thing I will tell you is that Oprah reached out to me on the day. You know some things are best left between best friends…She basically said, ‘God confirmed his word for you on this day.’ She texted me saying ‘honey, Marilyn Monroe is turning over in her grave.’”

Transitioning from comedy on “Reno 911” to drama in “Claws”:
“I think I’m dramatic, but I don’t think the show is a drama – not to me. I think the show is a delicious hybrid. I don’t carry the funny in the show, for sure. It’s delicious to be invited to another part of the party…I had been told ‘you’re funny. You do over-the-top comedy and that’s what we know you for.’ So it took a while to invite people to see me how I saw myself.”

What she loves about playing Desna on “Claws”:
“She’s on the south side of forty, is a full woman literally and figuratively. I love that she is a friend, a nurturer and I love that she’s her own woman. I love that she’s a boss. I just enjoy her. I love that women who live in this body type get to see themselves as sexual beings…BUT, it’s very challenging to be in skin-tight clothing all day long…”

Advocating for Karrueche Tran and other women in the industry:
“I’ve never gotten a job and not gotten somebody else a job…I never hoard a blessing. There’s enough to go around…She had gone back about three or four times. She didn’t even know that I was the advocate until after the fact. I’m happy to be a champion, not just of women, but anybody who is looking to live their dream.”
