Family Affair on the Black Carpet for John Singleton’s ‘Snowfall’ Season 2 Los Angeles Premiere

*It was a family affair on the black carpet for the Los Angeles screening of “Snowfall’s” season two premier. The producers, cast and crew, celebrity supporters and more were in attendance for the highly anticipated premier. Fans of the show gathered around to watch the cast, who portray their favorite characters, beautifully glow before revealing their long awaited body of work. It was a great representation of Black Hollywood for sure.

EURweb’s Nicole Collins spoke with the cast on the carpet and each person was so grateful for the opportunity while acknowledging the masterpiece that John Singleton put together.

The word family was used multiple times by the cast and crew to not only describe the show, but also their experiences on set. Amin Joseph who plays Uncle Jerome says his favorite moments on set are creating “scenes where as a family unit you just see black love and you know how we get loud and crazy and we just having fun and you can see that and an experience like this is timeless.”

The familial bond between everyone was apparent on the carpet with some showing us sides not like their characters. Damson Idris who plays the main character, Franklin Saint, was delightful showing his comedic side on the red carpet.

Now, “Snowfall” follows the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic in the 1980s however for some of the cast this was an eye opening project to be part of. Filipe Valle Costa, who portrays Mexican drug heir Pedro Nava, says in regard to the cocaine industry …

“I knew it was happening but didn’t know all details […} it made me a little scared. I think it’s an important story”. However, life contributed to a different on set experience for comedian/actor DeRay Davis. Davis shares that “It was comfortable for me because I don’t know what the other actor’s lifestyle was like or how they grew up but my mother was on drugs forever but she’s clean now […] but I was in the middle of the whole crack ordeal”. Malcolm M. Mays portrayal of Kevin Hamilton is superb and he believes “this show does a very good job at bringing O.G directors and new talent […] the parallels are self-explanatory with government interference.”

Season 2 premieres Thursday, July 19 on FX. For full coverage and interviews make sure to watch the video above.
