*The hit drama “Snowfall“ returns for season 2 on July 19. In celebration of the riveting story about the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it, FX held a summer pop-up event over the weekend.
Complete with live DJ sets, art installations, and interactive experiences, fans stepped back into the 80’s when the character Franklin Saint began his hustle. The two-day event featured branded swag like; LA snapback hats, custom graffiti vinyl albums and nail decals. They were also treated to free block party style food from LA originals, like In-N-Out and Homeboy Industries, plus surprise appearances from executive producer John Singleton, show stars Dasmon Idris (Franklin Saint) Isaiah John (Leon) Amin Joseph (Jerome Saint) Angela Lewis (Aunt Louie) and Malcom Mays (Kevin Hamilton) who hung out with fans and took photos.
Season two follows the lives as they intersect and overlap within the mosaic of Los Angeles as we enter 1984 and get deeper into the crack era. All parties are working toward their ultimate goals of money, power, and influence.
We pick up from season 1 with Franklin Saint, the young street entrepreneur, getting a taste of the perils and problems that come with a successful street product; Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative who finds that his off-book drug-funded operation may be vulnerable from unexpected personal and professional sources; and Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) and Lucia Villanueva (Emily Rios), the ex-wrestler and self-possessed daughter of a Mexican crime lord who joined forces to become a drug-running couple who discover the deadly potency of crack and plan to exploit it, despite the new dangers involved.
“Snowfall” is executive produced by Singleton, showrunner Eric Amadio, Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Michael London and Trevor Engelson. It returns to FX Thursday July 19 at 10pm.
