Here Are Three Reason LeBron James Decided to Take His Talents to the Lakers

*If you’re a sports fan, by now you no doubt know that LeBron James is now the face of the LA Lakers after signing a 4-year deal worth $154 million. The announcement came via a press release from his agency, Klutch Sports and said …

“LeBron James, four time NBA MVP, three time NBA finals MVP, fourteen time NBA All Star, and two time Olympic gold medalist has agreed to a four year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.”

Simple and direct. But why LA? Why the Lakers? Well, other than the 154 million reasons we stated at the top, according to USA Today, there are three key reason why King James made the decision to bring his talents to SoCal.

The information comes courtesy of two individuals with knowledge of the negotiations. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the high-profile nature of the deal.

In any event, the three reasons are …

1. James and his family (wife Savannah, sons LeBron Jr. and Bryce and daughter Zhuri) are excited to live in Los Angeles fulltime. He has two homes there and has spent previous off-seasons there.

2. James believes the Lakers are in position – with some of the players they have now – to build a team that can contend for a championship soon. Also, James was not adamant that another All-Star, such as Kawhi Leonard or Paul George, had to join the Lakers for him to sign with the Lakers. He understands they can build and create a contender with him there.

3. If James left Cleveland, it would be for an iconic franchise, and the Lakers are that with their 16 NBA championships and Hall of Famers who have played for the franchise, including some of the game’s all-time greats: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain. James’ agent, Rich Paul, met with Philadelphia – another storied franchise – which worked hard Sunday to reach a deal with San Antonio to acquire Leonard and then convince James to join, a person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports. But the Sixers never made serious traction with the Spurs. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about trade talks.

In related news … if scoring tickets to Lakers wasn’t hard enough before LeBron joind the team, Lakers games are about to become the hottest event in the city.

Not surprisingly, after it was announced James was on-board, the price for Lakers tickets spiked almost immediately.

According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the cheapest season tickets on StubHub went from $3,499 apiece to $5,800 on the basis of James’ decision. One fan spent $188,781 to purchase four season tickets, which doesn’t include potential playoff games.
