‘Permit Patty’ Resigns as CEO of her Weed Business After Fake-Calling Cops on 8-Year-Old

*Permit Patty has resigned from her cannabis company amid the fallout surrounding her fake call to police over an 8-year-old girl selling bottle water.

Alison Ettel, who was dubbed “Permit Patty” by the woman who filmed the viral video, left her position as CEO of TreatWell Health after several San Francisco dispensaries refused to sell it their products, a spokesperson said Tuesday.

“This decision, while not an easy one, is in the best interest of their patients,” spokesperson Cynthia Gonzalez said in a statement.

“It is Ms. Ettel’s belief that TreatWell, its employees, and patients should not have to suffer because of a situation that occurred in an escalated moment. And she regrets her part and is remorseful.”

Ettel, who is white, claims her actions against the African American girl were not racially motivated. In the viral video, she is shown claiming to be on the phone with police, reporting that the girl was “illegally selling water without a permit.”

The child’s mother, Erin Austin, posted on Instagram that “An 8-year-old selling water in front of her apartment building where she’s lived her whole life is NOT a reason to call the police.”
