*Beyonce and Jay-Z were reportedly working up to the last minute on their new album “Everything Is Love” over the weekend before its surprise release on Tidal.
According to Rolling Stone, the two were still finishing up their nine-track follow up to Beyonce’s infidelity album “Lemonade” and Jay-Z’s confessional “4:44” just minutes before hitting the stage Saturday night in London for their On the Run II tour.
“People were still recording parts an hour and a half before the last show in London,” producer Andre Lyon, of production duo Dre & Cool, told the music mag. “They were still putting last-second touches on.”
As part-owners of Tidal, BeyonJay had the means to distribute “Everything Is Love” as soon as the files were ready.
Lyon was one of several writers and producers who traveled to Europe with the couple, setting up an ad hoc recording facility backstage to “feed (them) beats every day.”
“Us being there was key,” he added. “They don’t have rules. No one can get away with the things they do – and when I say get away with, I mean pull off.”
