Jimmy Wopo

*The life of rising rapper Jimmy Wopo was cut short Monday in Pittsburgh.

On the same day that fellow artist XXXTentacion was shot dead in his car in Miami, police say Wopo was killed and another man injured when someone opened fire on their car in Pittsburgh’s Hill District Monday afternoon.

Wopo’s manager Taylor Maglin confirmed the death Monday, saying in a Facebook post, “I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world.”

The 21-year-old artist, whose real name was Travon Smart, had multiple videos that surpassed 1 million views on YouTube, including “Elm Street” and “First Day Out.”

He previously told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he had been shot twice in the past.

His attorney, Owen Seman, says he spoke with Wopo minutes before the shooting to discuss a contract with a major rap label.

In other news regarding hip hop-related shootings, police in New York are taking a closer look at rapper Tekashi69 to determine if he had any role in the attempted shooting of rapper Chief Keef, reports TMZ.

Law enforcement sources say NYPD wants to see if Tekashi has any connection to the two men who shot at Keef outside the W Hotel in Times Square. 6ix9ine was in L.A. at the time of the shooting, but cops want to know if he ordered the hit.

According to TMZ, NYPD has identified two suspects based on surveillance video, and know they stalked Keef the night of the shooting — first showing up at China Chalet restaurant where Keef was hanging downtown, then jumping into a dark-colored Ford Econovan.

After driving to midtown, the suspects reportedly parked the van around the block from the W and walked to the hotel to wait for Keef. When the rapper walked outside with a friend to smoke a cigarette, the suspects opened fire. Missing their intended target, the suspects fled in the van, which cops eventually found abandoned in Brooklyn.

Tekashi has denied any involvement.
