Omari Hardwick, Simone Missick, Rev Run & More Talk to EURweb At ABFF (Watch – Exclusive!)

*EURweb hit up Miami for the 8th annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) this past weekendThe event kicked off with a welcome luncheon held by Cadillac, followed by the red carpet screening of the new Sony film, Superfly.

Dozens of celebrities were in attendance including ABFF Founder and CEO Jeff Friday, this year’s celebrity ambassador, Jay Ellis, Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell, Michael K. Williams, Lex Scott Davis plus Rick Ross and Big Boi, who have roles in the film, and also Future who produced the sizzling soundtrack.

Day two of the festival gave attendees the opportunity to experience seminars and panels led by prominent members of the entertainment industry, catch spotlight screenings of exciting new films, and hit the sexy white party at Nikki Beach club with vibes provided by Hip-Hop icon, DJ DNice.

Some of the featured topics for the panels included; Q&A’s with the casts of:  NBC Series’ Trial & Error, Marlon and The First Purge, Claws, Love Is and The Bobby Brown Story. Actors LeToya Luckett and Tristan “Mack” Wilds in a compelling conversation about the state of Black Hollywood today. The event also featured a performance by rising star Jade Novah. There was a master class titled “Becoming A Showrunner” held by Emmy Award-nominated television producer Korin Huggins,  the “Path to Power” panel featured a discussion with the stars of the STARZ’ hit show PowerOmari Hardwick (Ghost,) Joseph Sikora (Tommy,) Rotimi (Dre) and Naturi Naughton (Tasha.)

Day three of the festival featured an elegant dinner party thrown by TV One’s General Manager Michelle L. Rice at the Mondrian Hotel.

EURweb’s Jill Munroe sat down with Hardwick on behalf of Gentleman Jack’s Real to Reel event, plus Simone Missick (Marvel’s Luke Cage), Sydelle Noel (GLOW), Britney Young (GLOW); Rev. Run, Justine Simmons (All About the Washingtons), Producer and creative director Mimi Valdes (Hidden Figures, Roxanne Roxanne) and Queen Sugar’s Dondre Whitfield to talk new concepts we’d like to see on TV, taking risks in your career and longevity in the entertainment business.
