‘Girls Trip’ Dance Battle to Face ‘Black-ish’ Bit ‘Freedom’ for Best Musical Moment at MTV Movie & TV Awards.

*Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith are collectively up for a trophy at next week’s MTV Movie & TV Awards for their epic dance battle scene.

Also competing is the “Black-ish” cast performance of “Freedom,” a musical departure for the ABC sitcom that launched Season 4 and dealt with the so-called freedom of slavery, which didn’t mean being freed from systemic racism.

“Girls Trip” and “Black-ish” face stiff competition from six other contenders, including Zendaya’s romantic “Rewrite the Stars” duet with Zac Efron in the movie musical, “The Greatest Showman.”

The others include Chrissy Metz nervously belting out “Landslide” in NBC’s “This Is Us,” Riverdale’s “A Night We’ll Never Forget,” and “Stranger Things” stars Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard’s Snow Ball dance to The Police classic “Every Breath You Take.”

The end credits of “Call Me by Your Name” and the “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” dream sequence from “Love, Simon” complete the category, which aims to celebrate “the greatest use of music in movies and television and includes iconic moments from the past year.”

Fans are invited to vote for their favorites via social media, and the winner will be unveiled during the ceremony, which takes place on June 18 at 9 p.m. EST in Santa Monica.

Haddish will serve as the night’s host, with guest presenters including Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan, Seth Rogen, and Gina Rodriguez.
