*Jada Pinkett Smith recently opened up about her “issues with hair loss,” due to alopecia, explaining, “It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?’

“It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear. That’s why I cut my hair, and why I continue to cut it,” she added.

“A lot of people have been asking why I’ve been wearing turbans,” Pinkett Smith said on the latest episode of her Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk. “Well, I haven’t talked about it. It’s not easy to talk about, but I am going to talk about it.”

And now that Jada has opened up about hair loss as a result of alopecia, the leading organization on the disease wants the actress to serve as a role model.

A spokesperson from the National Alopecia Areata Foundation tells The Blast they have been trying to get in contact with her team ever since she revealed her battle with hair loss.

One of the NAAF’s biggest goals is spreading awareness, and they believe Jada could assist with that effort and be an inspirational speaker at conferences, as well as assist in raising funds for research.

It’s unclear if Jada will agree to work with the organization.
