T.I. Responds: Rapper Says He was ‘Wrongfully Arrested’ for Drunkenness (WATCH)

*By now you’ve no doubt heard about rapper/actor T.I. being “wrongfully arrested” early this morning in “GhowGha” for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct while he was trying to get into his gated community in Henry County, Geogia. local news station WSB-TV

Dude didn’t have his key on him and argued with the security guard when he wasn’t let in. As you can guess, as a result of the incident, T.I.’s name instantly became a top-trending Twitter topic Wednesday. But Tip has something to say about what went down.

“I guess y’all have been hearing all the nonsense you know saying, I’m looking like yesterday man, I was inconvenienced and arrested, you know what I’m saying,” T.I., whose birth name is Clifford Harris, Jr., said. “With all we been through this is small potatoes, man.”

The rapper also spoke to The Blast about the encounter, claiming the charges were racially motivated and telling the outlet the officers who arrested him are “white cops in a very white area.”

T.I. told The Blast the guard on duty was sleeping when he returned home early Wednesday morning from the recording studio; the rapper said the guard “antagonized” him and there was a “very heated debate” but slammed reports that there was an assault, adding the guard “may have been hurt by my words” but that things did not get physical between them.

Mr. Harris didn’t let the arrest affect his day and instead, as you can see in the video above, he went to his son’s school to celebrate his birthday.

“I’m here, present at school. Ain’t been to sleep, but guess what, God is good all the time,” he continued. “Alright, so I’m going to get back in here man and continue to kick it with my 10-year-old, you know what I’m saying, and my 2-year-old, and we’re going to let god deal with the craziness, you know what I’m saying.”

Meanwhile, T.I.’s attorney, Steve Sadow – like us and others – referred to him as “Tip” in a statement to WSB-TV.

“Tip was wrongfully arrested early this morning when he attempted to gain entrance into his gated community – where his wife ‘Tiny’ and his family reside. The guard was sound asleep when Tip arrived at the guardhouse. It took Tip some time to wake up the sleeping guard. Tip clearly identified himself and sought entry. The guard refused entry,” the statement said.

Despite the rapper’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, identifying him, the guard would not allow T.I. to enter the gated community.

“The guard continued to refuse entry without justification. Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or a supervisor called the police,” Sadow said. “When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip’s side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip.”

Need we remind you that T.I. has had a history with law enforcement. In 2009, he paid a $100,000 fine and was sentenced to one year and one day in prison on charges related to buying silencers and machine guns
