*In Nigeria, the African Creative Exhibition and Awards (known as ACE Awards) is an initiative to laud the creative works of Nigerians and Africans, that make open competition affordable and accessible. It encourages established and up and coming African business men and women to look inwards and create more globally acceptable brands to rival top brand names.
The only difference in this case is that the products and brands are produced and based in Africa. One such brand ACE presented an award to, is MORIN.O’s leather accessories design and manufacturing business founded by savvy contemporary African art collector Morin Obaweya who won the Best Pioneer Craftswoman of the year.
Situated in Lagos, the business hub of Nigeria, MORIN.O’s business core strength lies in its commitment and ethos of being the best in the leather goods industry through service, attention to detail and strong customer satisfaction. At the recently concluded Lagos Leather Fair where Morin picked up an award for her business was Bill Amberg, renowned leather goods designer and creative director of Bill Amberg Studio based in London. He stopped by MORIN.O’s booth and admired the full range of products by the business which had a range of products on display including leather bags.
It is observed how hard-working, Morin Obaweya is, to ensure that her business produces first class and affordable products. MORIN.O is a sustainability driven company that supports women and children and healthcare foundations and initiatives from its proceeds. Morin Obaweya who is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University in Northern Nigeria, is CEO and Creative director of the MORIN O. Designs Ltd, which started four years ago and has gained local and international recognition amongst fashionable individuals and leather lovers who adore quality materials. Morin’s works and designs have been featured on various platforms at Trade Fairs and exhibitions internationally and her bags have been carried by different A-list local and international celebrities.
