*“American Ninja Warrior” co-host Akbar Gbaja-Biamila has joined the likes of 50 Cent and Carl Lewis after throwing out what is already being called one of the worst first pitches in baseball history.

During the Phillies–Giants game in Philadelphia on Thursday, the former NFL defensive end and linebacker had a good windup for his ceremonial first pitch, only to spike the ball instead, as he beamed it hard into the dirt in front of him. The Philly Phanatic mascot waiting to receive the catch was like, WTF?

Video of the debacle went viral immediately. The throw was so bad that the New York Mets have already offered him a second chance to redeem himself.

At least he had a good sense of humor about it, tweeting video of his throw along with the message, “I think somebody deflated my ball.”

He also sat down for a post-pitch interview where he attempted to explain what went wrong.
