*Asked by Complex when, exactly, he decided to propose marriage to his longtime girlfriend on the Met Gala red carpet, rapper 2 Chainz stated, “about a minute ago.”

That decision turned out to be one of the more memorable moments of last night’s premiere fashion event in New York, as the artist suddenly dropped to one knee and popped the question.

Nakesha Ward, also the mother of his three children – Heaven, Harmony and Halo – said yes.

2 Chainz was rumored to have popped the question to Ward five years ago at the 2013 BET Awards, and she has since been periodically referred to as his wife – but the circumstances surrounding that moment were never confirmed.

Whatever the case was, it’s official now.
