*John Amos, Black America’s beloved TV father James Evans from “Good Times” has a daughter, Shannon Amos, that is following in her dad’s footsteps.

According to ILOSM, Shannon is “heavily involved in production and she has a love for film and acting, just like her father.”

She owns the Atlanta and Los Angeles-based production company, Afterglow Multimedia, LLC. and her company is actually responsible for several national TV commercials for The Gap, Nike, and Lincoln Mercury.

As a former Creative Executive for Warner Bros., Shannon also contributed to the success of films like the Academy Award-winning “Blood Diamond” and “Letters from Iwo Jima,” along with box office hits like “Harry Potter” and “The Bucket List.”

Shannon’s production company’s client list consists of popular television networks, such as TV One, ESPN, BET, MTV, and Turner Originals.

She even had the privilege of directing her father back in 2008 when the two launched a reality series and Shannon was named the Executive Producer.

John Amos’s first marriage, between 1965 and 1975, was with artist and equestrian Noel Mickelson, with whom he has two children: Shannon and Grammy-nominated director K.C. Amos.

John is best known for his roles as James Evans, Sr. on “Good Times,”  and in the 1977 miniseries, “Roots,” for which he received an Emmy nomination.

In an interview with the American Archive of Television, Amos discussed why he received the boot from “Good Times.”

“I felt that with two other younger children, one of whom aspired to become a Supreme Court justice—that would be Ralph Carter, or Michael—and the other, Bernadette Stanis … she aspired to become a surgeon. And the differences I had with the producers of the show … I felt too much emphasis was being put on J.J. and his chicken hat and saying ‘dy-no-mite’ every third page, when just as much emphasis and mileage could have been gotten out of my other two children … ,” Amos stated.
