*You could say the “Black Panther” is returning to his alma mater to give the commencement address at Howard University. A more correct way to say it is that actor Chadwick Boseman, who plays the now iconic Marvel Studios’ character will give the address at the school.
The bottom line is that the university announced Wednesday that Boseman will give the keynote address at Howard’s 150th commencement ceremony on May 12.
It’s also being reported that Boseman will be presented with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, the university’s highest honor.
In a statement, Howard University President Wayne Frederick said Boseman’s role in “Black Panther” film “reminds us of the excellence found in the African diaspora and how Howard continues to be a gem that produces the next generation of artist-scholars, humanitarians, scientists, engineers and doctors.”
Boseman has also starred in biopics on the lives of Jackie Robinson, James Brown and fellow Howard graduate, Thurgood Marshall.
*In other news, in the wake of her Coachella performance over the weekend, Cardi B joked about how her dance moves at the festival will ease the birthing process, when she welcomes her first child.
“They say the more you move, the easier it will come out,” the 25-year-old said Thursday during an appearance on “Ellen.”
Cardi B added this gem:
“I was just trying to show the world how I got pregnant in the first place.”
While her due date has yet to be revealed, Cardi B also remains tight-lipped on her future child’s name.
“My dude named the baby. I really like the name,” she said of Offset’s decision. “I’m gonna let him say the name since he named the baby.”
