Judge Rules Coffee Companies in California (Like Starbucks) Must List ‘Cancer Warnings’

*Good morning. Well, I guess that’s a matter of opinion, especially if you’ve yet to have your morning coffee. You may want to hold off on that; seeing as a California judge has ruled that Starbucks and other coffee sellers had better start warning their customers that their coffee products carry a cancer risk.

I had to read it twice before passing the news along to you. I was looking for the word “might” carry a cancer risk.

It’s not there. 

The judge ended up taking the side of a nonprofit group who filed an initial lawsuit against Starbucks and other coffee companies in 2010 for violating Prop 65, a state law that requires businesses to notify customers about chemicals in their products that could cause cancer.
