*”Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman and rap phenomenon Cardi B kept the ratings momentum going for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” as the pair delivered the show’s best metered-market ratings since Natalie Portman and Dua Lipa’s Feb. 3 episode, a span of four episodes.
“SNL” was the #1 show on the Big 4 networks Saturday in both metered-market households and 18-49 in the local people meters, topping in both measures all primetime programs on those nets, including ABC’s NBA game between the Thunder and Rockets.
According to Deadline, “SNL” earned a 4.5 Live+same day rating in the metered market households and a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating in the markets with local people meters for Saturday’s episode, which included Boseman’s “Black Panther” character T’Challa playing “Black Jeopardy” and Cardi B revealing her pregnancy during her musical performance.
The ratings were up a notch from the most recent SNL original before the hiatus three weeks ago hosted by former cast member Bill Hader (4.5, 1.9), which in turn was up from the season-low marks posted by the previous week’s show (4.1, 1.7).
Boseman is the second “Black Panther” star to host the show following Sterling K. Brown’s stint several weeks ago.
