the real crew - 01-08-18

*On Wednesday, March 28, the hosts of “The Real” debate whether it’s time to retire the Happy Birthday song because it can make for awkward moments. But co-hosts Adrienne Houghton and Tamera Mowry-Housley use their harmonizing skills to show us how it’s done.

Hotline Bling Fan: I would like to know, seeing Tia and Tamera you know as their TV mom, from teens to now being moms — can you express how proud of you are of them? And maybe tell…  you know on the set, different characteristics to help you know Tia and Tamera… you know, apart?

Jeannie Mai: Oh, I like that…

Jackée Harry: Well I don’t want to start crying because she knows how I feel about her…

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Oh my gosh.

Jackée: And Tia does. And it’s real…

[Tamera hugs Jackée]

Jackée: Aww. It is, this is my girl.

[The Real audience: Aww.]

Tamera: It really is.

Jackée: You know, it’s not fake. You know, and uh… you know I don’t treat them like children, they’re adults and they have beautiful husbands and beautiful families. And you know we’re all very… you know, but uh… the difference between Tia and Tamera is character. I know their characters, and I always told them — I met them at 13, they were 13.

Tamera: Yes.

Adrienne Houghton: Wow.

Jackée: Oh Jesus. [Jackée pretends to faint]

[The Real audience laughs]

Jackée: And I knew, I knew them by their characters. She had a different kind of character, and so did her sister. You know Tia is kind of… da da da da… smooth… cook — cooking out, now she got all that…

Tamera: Yeah.

Jackée: And Tamera was the quirky, productive one you know, and self-aware of everything going on.

Tamera: Yes.

Jeannie Mai: Ah.

Jackée: You could see the difference right away, I could see it coming down the hall. [Jackée to Tamera] But I always told you, what? “Keep your own individuality and personalities.”

Tamera: You did.

Jackée: So I know yo name and I know yo name, and I don’t get you mixed up.

Tamera: That’s true. Yep, it’s true.

Adrienne: And you’re so different.

[The Real audience applauds]
