*In a new interview, Tina Turner opens up about her decision to forgive ex-husband Ike Turner after years of cruelty and abuse.

The 78-year-old legend told The Times: “As an old person, I have forgiven him, but it would not work with him. He asked for one more tour with me, and I said, ‘No, absolutely not.’ Ike wasn’t someone you could forgive and allow him back in.”

Turner, who married Ike at 16 and endured 14 years of abuse before gaining the courage to leave, is now living in Switzerland with husband Erwin Bach, who she married in 2013 after 27 years together.

Regarding the years of physical abuse she endured at the hands of Ike, “It’s all gone, all forgotten,” she said, noting that it took decades to get to a place of forgiveness.

But dreams about that time period have lingered. “I don’t know what the dreams are about. The dreams are still there — not the violence, the anger,” she said. “I wonder if I’m still holding something in.”

Turner’s life was turned into a stage musical called Tina, the Tina Turner Musical which premieres today (March 21) on London’s West End.
