*Compton’s youngest Mayor Aja Brown is reportedly running for Congress against former actress turned conservative commentator Stacey Dash.

According to TMZ, Brown will announce on Thursday that she is running for Congress in the 44th District … which covers Compton, Watts, San Pedro and North Long Beach. A Source tells the gossip site that Brown had no intention of running until the day Dash announced she’s running for a seat in the House of Representatives.

A number of members from the California Congressional delegation allegedly contacted Brown and urged her to run against Dash.

A source who has interacted with Brown tells TMZ the Compton Mayor believes Dash is “running for notoriety” and has no relationship with the district.

Brown — a Democrat — is passionate about issues such as housing initiatives, employment and protecting food programs. As reported by Essence, she has also reduced violent crime in the city by reaching out to Blood and Crip leaders to negotiate peace, using conflict mitigation instead of heavy policing. Brown began her second term as mayor last year.

Dash was a retired actress and video vixen before becoming a staunch supporter of the Republican Party, Fox News pundit and critic of the black community. She announced she would be running for Congress in California’s 44th district.

According to CNN, the 44th District has not be won by a Republican in years. Could Stacey Dash change that?
