Cress Williams: I was a crazy, crazy pothead for like…

Jeannie Mai: What?

Cress: 20 plus…

Adrienne Houghton: 20 years!

Cress: 20 plus years, yeah.

Adrienne: What?

Cress: And that was the thing, you know, like – you know, alcoholism, and you know, somebody’s addicted to heroin, or all these different things – it has a serious connotation.

Adrienne: Yeah.

Cress: But you know, when you say, “I was addicted to marijuana,” it has a connotation of just like… something funny.

Jeannie: Yeah.

Loni Love: Right.

Cress: So, I didn’t want to go to like meetings, it didn’t feel like that was what I wanted to do, and I just by accident started watching this show called Intervention.

Adrienne: Yes.

Cress: And you know, they deal with a different addiction every single week, and I saw, you know, heroin addictions, and crack addictions, and alcoholism, gambling, shopping addictions – all these different things. And I started to realize and see myself in them.

Adrienne: Wow.

Amara La Negra: Wow.

Cress: That really, the process, physically, mentally, is the same. So it was like, “There but for the grace of God, go I.” And so I felt like it was, watching it every day helped me to see like, if I don’t get control of this, that’s where I’m going. And I will get right back.

Loni: Wow.

Adrienne: Wow.
