In the Midst of Divorce Tisha Campbell-Marin Lands ABC Drama Series From Robin Roberts and Regina King

Actress Tisha Campbell-Martin attends the Disney ABC Television Group TCA Summer Press Tour on August 4, 2016 in Beverly Hills, California.

*Well alrighty then! Now see, this is how you deal with adversity: You keep things moving. We’re talking about Tisha Campbell-Martin doin’ the damn thing with her career while dealing with her marriage to Duane Martin that fell apart after over 20 years.

On top of the much talked-about reboot of “Martin,” Tisha’s set to star in a drama pilot for ABC from producers Pam Veasey, Robin Roberts and Regina King.

Written by Veasey with King set to direct, Deadline reports that the drama explores the lives of five African-American sisters, all officers in the NYPD, as they face the challenges of their high-risk jobs while juggling the responsibilities of marriage, motherhood and family.

Campbell-Martin will play Sgt. Anise Kendrick-Morrison, a witty, tough and outspoken patrol officer with a sharp sense of humor. She is immensely proud of her family, especially her four sisters in the NYPD. The first to join the force, she proudly patrols her own childhood neighborhood in Queens.

As we reported, Campbell-Martin most recently starred as Simone Biles’ mother in the Biles biopic “Courage to Soar,” which aired on Lifetime this month. The pilot role also marks a return to ABC for Campbell-Martin, who starred as Damona on both seasons of “Dr. Ken” and as Janet opposite Damon Wayans on all five seasons of “My Wife & Kids.”

In other Tisha Campbell-Martin news …

As we’ve reported, the actress/singer’s 20+ year marriage may be done, but her music career is heating up like never before. It’s kind of a different twist on the old saying about what happens when one door closes, another opens.

Yep, the soon to be ex-Mrs. Campbell-Martin may be 49 year’s old, but she’s straight up “killin it,” with her new dance floor banger, “I Don’t Want to be Alone.” When you check out the video for the song, it’s obvious that Tisha hasn’t lost any dance floor moves. (Scroll down to watch.)

As we alluded to at the top of this story, she’s not a newbie at being a recording artist. Back in 1993, she dropped a self-titled album and released two singles: “Push” and “Love Me Down.” Also, in 2015, she released “Steel Here,” which showcased her sexual abuse as a child.

And of course she was able to show off her vocal skills when she was Gina Waters on “Martin” back in tha day.
