*Nile Rodgers wants desperately to collaborate with Rihanna, but has been too shy to ask the superstar to join him in the studio, reports WENN.
The producer, who has worked with the likes of David Bowie and Madonna since starting out in the 70s band Chic, would love to work up with the Barbadian singer. However, he admitted to Britain’sDaily Star newspaper that he hasn’t approached her yet because he always freezes in her presence.
“I adore Rihanna,” he explained. “I am a super fanboy. When I’m around Rihanna I almost can’t move. She’ll be sitting down and I’ll want to go over, ‘Yo, Ri!’ At least four times I’ve been in the room right next to her and I didn’t even turn around.”
Rodgers has been a fan since at least 2011, when he responded to a fan’s Twitter question by writing, “I think Rihanna’s records are VERY WELL crafted – She’s worked the system and has become Dancehall Queen – She’s developing – BRAVO!”
The musician, 65, suffered a health scare last year, as he revealed in December that he had undergone surgery to treat cancer, and was on course to make a “100 per cent recovery.” Nile also successfully overcame a battle with prostate cancer in 2013.
On his website, he revealed plans to resume work on major projects he had to delay due to his illness.
“This situation has delayed some big plans for this year, but what will happen next year is beyond any of my wildest dreams,” he wrote.
