Mo’Nique Gets Schooled by Whoopi Goldberg on ‘The View’ [Video]

*Mo’Nique was invited on “The View” Thursday to dish further about her Netflix boycott and being blackballed from Hollywood.

The comedian continues to plead her case about why she has an issue with the low offer from Netflix for a comedy special. She also explained why she wants fans to boycott the streaming service.

Co-host Joy Behar mentioned Mo’Nique’s rumored diva behavior, which many believe is the reason why the offers stopped pouring in. But Mo wasn’t having it…. or Whoopi Goldberg’s attempt to “school” her on the business of show.

“Thank you for letting me speak on this. Eight years ago, I did a movie called Precious. On that movie, I received $50,000, and that was not my argument nor my fight because I knew what I signed up for.”

Mo went on to say that after fulfilling her contractual obligations, Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lionsgate Studios wanted her to travel and promote the film for free, a statement that fellow actress Whoopi felt the need to address.

“I’m going to stop you, because contractually, when you make a movie, regardless of who you sign the deal with, your job is to go and promote said movie,” Whoopi fires back. “When they wanted you to come, and we’ve had this conversation, and I said if you had called me, I could’ve schooled you on what was expected.”

Mo’Nique responded, “And we did have that conversation and what I said to you my sweet sister, I said, ‘Whoopi, at what point do we stop saying the next time?’” Whoopi asked, “What next time?

“If I had done something wrong contractually, they would’ve sued me,” she added. “The reason why no one could do anything to me contractually, because they found out I did nothing wrong contractually. So, when they asked me to come overseas to promote the film — when I said, ‘Guys, I’m spending time with my family, I’m going to pass.’ When I make the statement, ‘This is what happens when you don’t go to the room.’ What Tyler Perry showed me, Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey and Lionsgate, when you don’t do what we ask you to do, we’ll take your livelihood. So for eight years, my family has suffered, my career has suffered because what I would not allow those entities to do was bully me.”

Goldberg–who’s won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony–was having none of her complaining.

What’s your take on the issue? Are you Team Mo’Nique, or nah?
