Yes, the Valentine’s Day hoopla is over. The holiday that keeps every major restaurant chain filled to capacity, every florist working on overdrive and every husband, boyfriend and hopeful making last minute trips for jewelry, candy and teddy bears is…. OVER.

TV stations are back to their regularly scheduled programs and the Instagram stories with sappy relationship testimonies will be packed away for next year. This is how things tend to be in today’s society, trendy – and sadly, that also applies to one of humanity’s most powerful gestures, LOVE.

Cree Davis, however, is on a mission to change that by launching a powerful campaign aimed at uniting families and communities, and most of all, spreading the concept of true love to all corners of the world not only on Valentine’s Day, but everyday.  It is called the #UnconditionalLoveMovement, which began with the release of Davis’s new song “Unconditional Love” in December, and an accompanying music video released via Facebook that is gaining widespread attention.

“The #UnconditionalLoveMovement is a result of something that has been on my heart for a long time,” said Davis, an Atlanta-based actress, singer, song-writer and philanthropist. “It is about the healing powers of unconditional love… bringing love back to our communities and more power back to us as a people.”

Davis, who has appeared in numerous national TV commercials and on programs like Fox’s “Shots Fired” with Sanaa Lathan and OWN’s (the Oprah Winfrey Network) “Greenleaf,” has always made a point to use her platform to inspire and empower others. She is passionate about helping her community. Recognizing how families have suffered over the years from a lack of unity and structure has inspired her to do her best to reverse that cycle.  She frequently speaks at schools, empowerment conferences, marriage retreats and bridal expos, sharing valuable information and demonstrating how self-love and love for others can muster a powerful force that will have a positive impact for generations to come.

You are likely to see social media posts of her dawning #UnconditionalLove T-shirts, or videos with families and married couples sharing what the phrase means to them. However, Davis also emphasizes that “unconditional love” takes work and is far from  the fairy tail version that we see in the movies.

“I share that unconditional love is not always going to feel good,” she said. “It is about choosing to love when the conditions come or when it is difficult to love. It is a decision. You have an opportunity to choose love and choose forgiveness, first for yourself, and then you can exude that to others, your family and extend it into your community. That is how we are going to win together.”

Last month, Davis performed at the Governors Ball in Cross River State, Nigeria for His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade, his wife and guests. She then met with the King and Queen of the Cross River State.  This shows the global appeal of her movement, and as more are finding out about it, the reach is immeasurable.

““I am going to use my gifts to tell stories and uplift and empower as many people as possible. I want to leave great songs for children and inspire the next generation because that is what it is all about. So many people are gravitating towards the movement and towards the song. It is the new family feel-good song and I am happy to see how excited people are about it, she said.”
