*The Robinson Family from the 60’s classic drama/sci-fi TV series are back and completely re-imagined!
“Lost In Space“ returns to living rooms on April 13 on Netflix and follows the adventures of a family of pioneering space colonists whose spaceship veers off-course.
According to the synopsis: In the year 2046, The Robinson Family and the spaceship Jupiter 2, one of several Jupiter ships, encounters a rip in spacetime and crashes on an unknown planet. Stranded light years from their intended destination, the Robinson’s and other colonists marooned with them battle a strange new alien environment and their own personal demons as they attempt to leave the planet.

Series star Toby Stephens (John Robinson) previously spoke about how this reboot will compare to the classic series from the 1960s.
“It’s a very clever, modern reworking of a great story. Lost in Space is Swiss Family Robinson in space, so it was a story that existed before Lost in Space. The fundamental story is that it’s a family that is lost in a difficult, life-threatening situation and how it challenges them and brings them closer together. That is essentially what the story of this is, it’s just the context is a lot more modern. It’s a more modern take on the ’60s version. If you look at it now, it’s charming, but it seems so innocent. Whereas this is a version that is for our time. I’m hoping it will still have humor and humanity in it, but it has obviously gotta be for a modern audience.”
Actress Taylor Russell (“Falling Skies”) takes on the role of Judy Robinson. She is the brains AND brawn of the family, and a great role model for young girls of color to see on screen. Representation matters. Black women are shattering ceilings in STEM/STEAM, and will continue to do so if the right representation, like Judy Robinson, is there.

The original “Lost in Space” series ran for three seasons, with 83 episodes airing between 1965 and 1968. The first season was filmed in black and white, with the second and third seasons filmed in color.
The series inspired a 1998 feature film directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring William Hurt, Matt LeBlanc, and Gary Oldman. Several of the actors from the original TV series had cameos in the film.
“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, back in June. “The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world.”
Netflix’s 10-episode series reboot will be one the whole family can enjoy together.
